Lord
Intro
In the Bible, God and Jesus and Holy Spirit are often referred to as ‘Lord’. It means the one who is in charge, the boss.
Knowing that God loves us and only ever wants the best for us means we know that God is a safe person to have as boss of our lives.
Testimony
So how do we make Jesus as the boss of our lives?
Well it means telling him (and meaning it!) that we want him as Lord in our life, as our boss and handing control over to him. I remember the first time I prayed a prayer like that, giving the whole of my life over to God. I was already a Christian, but I didn’t realise God wanted me to give him every bit of my life to him so he could be in charge. That’s when God really started to use me and the gifts he had given me.
What Would Jesus Do?
Have you seen the wristbands with WWJD on them? They are a great way to remind ourselves to follow him and do what he would do.
If we involve God it will keep our friendship with him strong, he will help us know what to do when we have to make decisions, and help us in situations at home, school or just chilling with our friends.
Questions
- Have I made Jesus the Lord/the boss of my life?
- Do I ask God about the decisions I have to make?
- Does God have a place right in the middle of my life or is he pushed out to the side by other things?
- Do I prefer to do things my own way first and then, when they don’t work, turn to God?
Creative Prayer
Write down on a piece of paper your gifts or talents, your time, your friendships, your feelings, your attitude, and anything else you think God is reminding you of. Fold it and hold it in your hand. Close your eyes and imagine Jesus standing right in front of you holding his hands out to you. Tell God you want him to be Lord over what you have written and when you are ready to let it go into his hands, for him to be in charge, drop the piece of paper.
