Israel is always in the news. This is because 2 different nations claim that the land belongs to them. The Jews and the Palestinians have been fighting for many years over the bible lands where Jesus once walked.
Israel is the home of the Jews and is the only non Arab (Muslim) nation in a area called the Middle East.
Jerusalem is an important city to Jews, Christians and Muslims. Christians no longer make any claim on the land but the Jews and the Muslims do and this is at the heart of the problems and wars between Arabs and Israelis for many years.
There are few Christians in Israel and they are not allowed to reach out to Jews or Muslims. Some Jews have become Christians.
The increase in the number of born-again believers among Jews. Jews who believe Jesus is the Messiah have increased from 250 in 1967 to possibly 7,000 in 2000, and are beginning to be recognized by many as an acceptable part of Israeli society. There has also been a steady increase in the number of Arab believers and new churches in the last 20 years.
The fights and wars in Israel. The intense half-century of conflict between Arabs and Israelis needs a solution. Both sides lay claim to the land. Pray for a fair, lasting and working solution to this war.
